A friend involved in environmental circles inspired her to become more active in this area, and now she considers the human-induced effects on the earth's ecosystem and climate change as one of the biggest security threats today for both people and planet. She is particularly interested in how politics needs to address environmental issues, saying: "Even if we didn't believe in climate change, we would lose nothing by trying to prevent it, but to ignore it could be detrimental." going the way we have been going, then the things that take our breath away, the things that make our jaws drop, the things that we are astounded by... will not be there for much longer... they will have gone, disappeared, sayanara. So what does WWF do about that? We are finding ways that allow us, the increasing numbers of "us", to live with what we have.

The tigers. The great apes. The giant pandas. To stop crowding them out. To work out ways in which we can both survive. Without eating it, hunting it or hustling it out of its home to the point where it doesn't exist anymore. To the point where we call it extinct. You can rightly question the need to "preserve" Do we and should we maintain the status quo?After all, life changes over time. There is evolution. Nothing ever quite stays the same and species do go extinct naturally for one reason or another. The question is what is "natural" and what is "human induced" change? To what extent are our increasing human numbers, our increasing demands on this planet, affecting its very existence? Are we making it unstable and possibly one day unlivable?Even if you are cynical about the need to maintain the magnificent diversity of life on Earth, you still need to survive. You still want your children to survive. And to survive, we need a planet. '

A healthy one. And critical to that health is its diversity of life. The processes and forms and functions.

Every living creature is part of a chain, and if you break the chain, things start to collapse, life breaks down.Think a planet can survive on man's ingenuity alone? Just take a look at how clever we've been when we take on the role of mother nature... Sure, we're smart. Yes we're ingenious. No argument that we're often able to adapt, invent and circumvent. But if our life support system fails then we are lost. And believe us, in this life support system there are ecological pipes, biological connections, and organic leads, levers and pulleys with connections to things you wouldn't believe. Things we don't even know about. Think: butterfly wings in Brazil causing cyclones in Texas (chaos theory).

Fact is, we are playing a card game when we don't fully appreciate the stakes. And we don't fully know all the players. And we only have the one hand. No second chance here folks. So what is WWF doing about this? We're getting to know the odds. To know the players. To know how each interacts with other. We then carefully choose where we get involved to make the biggest wins, the greatest advances in the shortest time... because time is of the essence. We have had plenty of successes. And we are always learning, adapting and applying.But with your help: your time, your words, your commitment. Then we can make a formidable team. We can win more and more. Achieve bigger, greater, lasting things.And our hopes will grow that we can indeed keep on living with the magnificent diversity of life that is intrinsic to our life on this one, big, beautiful, green and blue orb we call home. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you your one, your only, incredibly amazing, astoundingly stunning planet Earth.

المباني صديقة البيئة تحتاج لحوافز أكبر في أمريكا

عندما يفتتح العام المقبل سيكون برج بنك أوف أمريكا المكون من 54 طابقا في نيويورك أقل المباني الادارية تلويثا للبيئة في الولايات المتحدة.
فهو سينتج أغلب طاقته من منشأة بداخله. وسيجمع ويعيد استخدام مياه الصرف والامطار. ويستخدم مواد معادا تدويرها في بنائه.
والمبنى هو الأحدث في اتجاه نحو انشاء مبان ادارية تستخدم طاقة أقل وتسهم بدرجة أقل في ظاهرة الاحتباس الحراري. لكن شركات التنمية العقارية تقول ان هذا الاتجاه يتعطل بسبب عدم كفاية الدعم الحكومي.

موقع الهيئة الوطنية لحماية الحياة الفطرية وإنمائها بالسعودية في زي جديد
خاص بأخبار البيئة
http://www.ncwcd.gov.sa/arabicmain.htm في خطوة محمودة طال انتظارها أبدلت الهيئة الوطنية لحماية الحياة الفطرية وإنمائها بالمملكة العربية السعودية من ثوبها الإليكتروني التقليدي على الإنترنت، بثوب أو موقع آخر لا يخلو من جاذبية وحسن التنظيم. الموقع الجديد الذي تم إطلاقه من فترة وجيزة، يتميز بأنه يجمع بين الصورة والكلمة، وبأنه يمزج بين شعار المحافظة على الحياة الفطرية واللون الأخضر المميز، لون الحياة، وذلك في تناغم وسلاسة تعبر عن حس بيئي عالي.
يأخذ الموقع الجديد بكلا النظامين الرأسي والأفقي في عرضه، حيث يتصدر الواجهة شريط أفقي يحتوي على وصلات معلوماتية وإدارية

خاصة بالهيئة، في حين يركز الشريط الرأسي بوصلاته المتعددة على أنشطة الهيئة وجهودها في مجال حماية الحياة الفطرية. ويجدر الإشارة هنا إلى أن الموقع يحتوي على وصلة تقود إلى موقع "البرنامج السعودي لحماية المها العربي"، الذي يعد موسوعة مستقلة خاصة بحيوان المها (الغزال العربي أو الوضيحي)، حيث تضم إضافة إلى المعلومات والتفصيلات العلمية ، أبرز الجهود والفعاليات التي تمت من أجل إنقاذ هذا الحيوان من الانقراض. أما أهم ما يميز الموقع الحالي فهو تزيين واجهته بباقة من الصور الجذابة التي تعبر عن ثراء المملكة بتنوع أحيائي كبير وتعدد أنماط الحياة الفطرية فيها.

يعقد في مدينة مسـقط بسلطنة عمان الملتقى الخليجي الثالث للجودة تحت عنوان " تطبيقات الجودة في الإدارة والبيئة " وذلك خلال الفترة من 5-6 يونيو 2006م ، والذي تنظمه وزارة البلديات الإقليمية وموارد المياه بسلطنة عمان بالتعاون مع المجلس السعودي للجودة بالمنطقة الغربية وتأتي أهمية الملتقى باعتباره يتناول موضوع الجودة في البيئة بمشاركة العديد من الخبراء العرب والعالمين المتخصصين في هذا المجال ، حيث تقدم أوراق عمل من قبل الأجهزة حكومية وبعض الشركات الكبيرة من مختلف دول الخليج العربي الست ، تتناول تطبيقات وتجارب الجودة في مجالي الإدارة والبيئة في دول الخليج العربية .وهي فرصة للمهتمين بهذا المجال للحضور والمشاركة

أنا مهندس حاصل على عدة تخصصات فى الهندسه ودرست بالولايات المتحده مصرى مسلم متدين وعندى خبرات ومواهب هندسيه فوق العاده وسوف تكون مفيده جدا لمجال عملكم وأحب الحياة الفطريه وأتمنى أن انضم لفريق العمل لديكم.اذا كانت هناك فرصة لذلك أستطيع أن أرسل لكم السيره الذاتيه فى حالة رغبتكم فى الأطلاع عليها.

أرغب أن أنضم إلى فريق العمل لديكم لقد درست في جامعة الملك سعود و لمدة 8 سنوات تخصصي في الفيزياء النووية و الإشعاعية و عندي إهتمامات كثيرة بالبيئة والحماية من التلوث و الطاقة النظيفة أنا سورية و حاليا موجودة في سورية حيث قدمت استقالتي من الجامعة إذا كان في مجال للعمل معكم أكون جدا سعيدةللانضمام إليكم مع جزيل الشكر

أريد ان أنقل لكم بعض ماتعاني منه بيئتنا الجميلة في منطقة جازان فأنا اسكن بالقرب من أحد الاودية الجميلة والغنية بخضرتها وأشجارها الكثيفة والمليئة بتعدد الحيوانات فيها وعلى مر السنين بدت تلك البيئة بالاختفاء والسبب أن البلدية حولته الى مرمى للنفايات فتشوه المنظر وانقرضت الحيوانات وأصبح يهب علينا برياح ملوثة سببت لنا الامراض ناهيك عن اتساع البقعة السوداء من الاوساخ التي تجرها المياه أثناء الامطار...............فهل لديكم الحل علما أننا قدمن شكاوي عديدة على جهات مختلفة دون جدوى وأخيرا طرقنا بابكم لعلنا نجد من ينقذنا
