Water Africa

Water Africa - BackgroundWater Africa is a campaign by Environment Africa, launched in 2003 to tackle vital issues surrounding water in the Southern African region.
Why Water?
Without clean fresh water we cannot survive. 97% of the water in the world is undrinkable salt water and only 3% is fresh water, which we can drink. BUT almost 70% of this fresh water is already polluted, It is time to act NOW!
Water is undeniably vital to life. Without it, food production declines, human health fails, the natural environment suffers and economic development is limited. Some experts even predict that the next wars will be fought over water. We need to think of ways in which to ensure that the future generations have enough clean water for their survival.
Water Africa aims to:
· Increase awareness about the water situation in Zimbabwe and the region;· Encourage life skills and value systems that contribute to the protection of our water; · Encourage the sustainable and equitable use of water;· Invite the participation and support of individuals, associations, business and industry, institutions, educators, and government in the efficient, equitable and sustainable use of water;· Lobby for support and commitment from industry and government to be responsible for non pollution;· Demand protection of catchment areas, wetlands and river systems.
We need your help!
Water Africa invites YOU to participate in this exciting campaign in some of the following ways:
· Help raise awareness of and advocate the importance of water;· Stand up for your rights to access clean water;· Get involved in cleaning up your river systems or water ways near you;· Save water, harvest water;· Protect mountains, the wetlands and the forest which all contribute to clean flowing water;· Contribute to the campaign financially.
Please contact us if you wish to know more about the project or want to get involved in any way.
Help Us Conserve It!
